Why pay when free templates exist?

A free template still costs you the afternoon it takes to wire up the formulas and find out whether they hold when you change a number. Plenty of them break the moment you do. These arrive finished, with a filled sample year sitting in the file so you can watch the maths run before you type anything of your own. If you bill $30 an hour or more, the afternoon is worth more than the file.

Is $14 to $15 a lot for a spreadsheet?

Next to a free template, yes. Next to what it is keeping track of, less so. Published research puts unclaimed deductions at $8,000 to $12,000 a year for the average freelancer doing their own books, and one late invoice can eat an afternoon of chasing. The price is under an hour of most freelance rates.

Can I edit it and make it mine?

Yes. It is an ordinary spreadsheet. Rename the categories, change the tax rate, add columns, delete the sample tab. There are no macros and nothing is locked, so you are not fighting the file to make it fit your work.

Will it open in my software?

Accepted Answer

It works in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, and Apple Numbers. Formulas recalculate when you open the file. For Google Sheets, use File then Import then Upload, or open it straight from Drive.

What do I actually get after paying?

One .xlsx file per product, downloadable straight after checkout, plus a short guide. There is nothing to install and no account to make. The file is yours to keep, including on a new laptop in four years.

Checkout runs through Polar, which is our merchant of record. If a file will not open or a total comes out wrong, reply to your Polar receipt and we will refund you. We would rather give the money back than argue about a $15 spreadsheet.

Is my financial data going anywhere?

No. The file lives on your computer or your own Drive. It has no login, no sync, and no connection back to us. We never see a single number you type into it.

Is this tax advice?

No, and the tax set-aside figure is an estimate to help you save, not a filing. It applies a percentage you choose to your net profit. Ask an accountant what rate suits your situation.
